NPCOS Newsletter, Jan. 2012

As you travel through the maze of grant funding, have you wondered if there was a way to gain education, collaboration and support to help you along the journey?  Founded in 1996, the Kansas Professional Grant Association (KPGA) exists for just those reasons.   Membership includes educational meetings and networking as well as special rates to classes and convention.  The Million Dollar Club recognizes the accomplishments of members who have reached the million dollar mark in funds raised.  With chapters meeting in Wichita and Topeka, there are many opportunities to become involved.  The KPGA is looking forward to 2012 with excitement as the board implements the newly adopted strategic plan.

In 2012, the KPGA is sponsoring their first state-wide convention on October 16th at the Ramada Inn, Hutchinson.  This one day event will feature an educational track for interested grantwriters, from novice to experienced and a track for nonprofit leaders about grantwriting as a part of their overall organizational fundraising goal.  Featured keynote speaker is Jayme A. Sokolow, founder and president of The Development Source, Inc, a company that helps businesses and nonprofit organizations develop proposals and fundraising campaigns. He has helped companies develop proposals to federal, state, and local government agencies in a wide variety of fields, including information technology, energy, health and medicine, logistics, and services to the military. Dr. Sokolow has developed proposals to over 200 foundations, corporate giving sources, and individual donors.  Funding sources have included the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Mellon Foundation, AFL-CIO, and the Lilly Endowment. Over the last five years, he has been involved in development efforts of over $50 billion.
